Just me, Being Me
Right after finishing the ADU for the contractor, I was directed over to a kind of simple medium sized kitchen refurbish. I performed all of the following tasks using my own tools and passed all necessary inspections working alone without a helper in under 100 hours.
- Demo 8.5’x18’ kitchen cabinets and countertops, keeping 9 to be repainted
- Demo under sink plumbing and disposal power, pull dishwasher.
- Demo click and stick engineered flooring and remove 55 feet of base trim and 96 feet door trim
- Demo L/R to Kitchen opening to 70” removing kitchen sheetrock only leaving painted sheetrock surface in living room.
- Frame new wider header,new trimmers
- Sheetrock new framing
- Move gas line in wider opening to outside opening, repiping in crawl space and attic through top plate
- Disconnect 50 gal. gas water heater and pull out
- Remove 2 -24”x36” fluorescent lights.
- Frame openings for sheet rock
- Close in and install sheetrock in openings
- Patch damaged sheetrock areas with “California” type sheetrock patches and hot mud.
- Remove 20 years of grime from old cabinet doors and sand for new paint
- Remove 20 years of grime and hardware from old cabinet face frames and doors and sand for new paint
- Join 1 new base cabinet to existing base cabinet, cut off 7/16” off rail in existing base cabinet bottom face frame to match new base cabinet dimension.
- Cut and install 3/4” deck on top of base cabinets for new countertops
- Install 200 ft.² engineered vinyl plank flooring and underlayment.
- Install gas, water heater and venting.
- Change out 11 new outlets and 2 new switches
- Assist in installing 4 wall cabinets
- Tape off all cabinets so contractor can spray face frames and exposed sides white
